The Imitation Game
I am extremely excited by the pending release of this movie.
It stars Benedict Cumberbatch as British code breaker and computer-science pioneer Alan Turing.
It has just won the top prize at the Toronto International Film Festival meaning it is very much in Oscar contention.
Turing was a pioneer of personal computing and was instrumental in ending World War 2 due to his work as a code breaker, in particular The Enigma Code.
He was a tortured genius who had to conceal his sexual orientation.
After saving Britain from defeat at the hands of the Nazi’s he was ultimately prosecuted for homosexuality (then a crime) in 1952, before dying two years later.
So a fascinating story with great tailoring set in World War 2.
