A Short History
The history of men's shorts is a classic tale of form & function. Originating in ancient civilization, early shorts were primarily functional, providing comfort and mobility in warm climates. The Greeks and Romans used loincloths and subligaculum for athletic endeavours, foreshadowing the athletic shorts of today.
However, it wasn't until the 20th century that men's shorts gained traction as casual wear, driven by practicality and comfort, especially in warm regions. World War II played a pivotal role in popularizing shorts as military attire in tropical theaters, further embedding them in the global wardrobe. Since then, men's shorts have become a fashion staple, with diverse styles and lengths catering to various occasions and tastes, showcasing how fashion adapts to the ever-changing needs and preferences of society.
