Ponsonby's First Anniversary, Featuring Rob Niwa
It feels like only yesterday that we opened our doors in Ponsonby. The goal of the new store was to showcase the evolution of the Crane Brothers offer from purely suit-centric to a complete lifestyle brand for men.
We are pleased with the results since opening. It has been a year of hard work, dedication, and growth for our entire team.
The feedback we have received from you (our clients) and the wider Ponsonby community has been extremely positive. We are excited to see it develop, in no small way, due to the hard work by our team, consisting of Rob and Cam.
Their hard work has been invaluable in introducing Crane Brothers at a new location to a new audience (and a few familiar faces).
Recently we caught up with Rob and had a chat:
Rob, thanks for all of your hard work over the past year with the Ponsonby Store. Can you tell us a little bit about how you and Murray first began discussing the project?
With more people working from home, we want to give our clients another option to visit us. When I first started working with Murray was with Little Brother in Ponsonby. So in some ways it feels full circle.
What would you see are the key differences between the Ponsonby store and High Street? And how would you describe the Ponsonby clientele?
Ponsonby will house more of our casual collection. Leaving the formal occasion wear for High Street. The Ponsonby clients are knowledgeable about fashion and fabrics. They have a good sense of style. Also a great mix of different styles.
From our latest Autumn/Winter collection what is your favourite piece you’re excited to show clients?
The Brown Suede Bomber jacket. The Cocoa Flannel Trousers. All about texture.
Finally, what excites you most about being in the Ponsonby area?
It’s the locals! They’re so supportive and welcoming. Meeting new clients and seeing our regulars.
