Save The White Lady

Iconic is not a word I use liberally, but there is no better way to describe the White Lady.
Since 1948 it has been serving food to hungry people in Auckland's downtown. I was an early adopter, living in the City when it was a landscape devoid of anywhere to eat or even buy groceries. In those days, there was nothing like the choice we have today, and a toasted sandwich or burger was high on the list after a night at Cause Celebre or the Box, and in more recent years (on occasion) other entertainment venues in the general vicinity.
Auckland City Council have decided that this “icon” should leave our streets due to a variety of reasons, all as absurd as each other. We don't want a homogenised cityscape moulded and shaped by tasteless middle management bureaucrats. The only thing Vanilla about the White Lady is the shakes; it’s seen countless iterations of food crazes come and go. As a viable and well-run business, why not just leave it alone, let it do its thing. If you agree then say something or post something.
