On A High
This year is proving to be a big one for us and we are stepping into our second quarter of a century with renewed energy and excitement. To celebrate we have recommitted to our High Street lease and recently completed an extensive renovation.
The creative process has seen us engage extensively with an array of incredible local and international vendors. Giacon Terrazzo reproduced the original hotel terrazzo 60 years after the original was laid with Andrew Giacon now the third generation to work on it. Aalto Paint developed our signature Duck Egg colour when we first opened. Nodi Rugs provided flooring in New Zealand Wool and Gallerist Michael Lett has consulted and overseen the installation of works including renowned international artist Martino Gamper. There are also artworks by Gordon Walters and Dan Arps as well as a Barter Work by Billy Apple.
Influenced heavily by founder Murray Crane’s travels, our flagship store decor heralds a move away from the dark, members-only club feel it has historically emanated. Decades of Italian influence and collaboration have brought a lighter and more irreverent feel to the space, all whilst respecting the brands history and retaining an air of integrity and masculinity.
We are proud to breathe new life into historical elements of the existing space, including our 100 year old Matai floor and original signature brass work from 1999 (refurbished by the same company who installed it 25 years ago).
We have always prided ourselves on providing an elevated retail experience and our physical space is a very big part of that experience.
