Art+Object's first Rare Books auction of 2019 features an important collection of Antarctic books from the library of Richard Reaney, a noted author, historian and Polar adventurer.
Richard Reaney has visited significant historic sites in Antarctica on numerous occasions and played an important part in many of the commemorative expeditions to South Georgia, Antarctica, and the Sub-Antarctic Islands.
Over a period of 50 years, Richard accumulated a significant collection of books on Antarctica and the expeditions relating to it as well as numerous books relating to other international expeditions and the ‘Heroic Age of Antarctic Exploration’.
Most are first editions.
