New Zealanders Not Kiwis
In the last few days I have travelled through 3 continents, untold time zones and endured significant miles of travel on planes trains, taxi's and cars. I've had 1 car accident and until now have remained relatively healthy and unscathed.
One thing that has really struck me this trip is the incredible success that New Zealanders are continuing to have globally.
Aside from the omnipresence of Lorde it's been great to see that other musicians continue to achieve.
No one sums that up better than Conan Mockasin.
Manchester based now after a number of years abroad his track Please turn me into the Snat off his Forever Dolphin Love LP was the second track in at Louis Vuitton’s most recent Fall Winter Catwalk show.
With Radiohead choosing Mockasin as a recent support act and Beck, Charlotte Gainsbourg and rapper Tyler, the Creator as fans it's easy to see why he is experiencing success after years of hard graft.
Whether it's Fashion, Art, Food or Music our creative integrity and influence seems to have moved past fleeting brushes with success and has turned into something more sustainable and long term.
The cringe has gone.
