New Autumn Shirts - A Guided Tour
Autumnal weather means cooler temperatures, falling leaves and lots of exciting new pieces touching down. Our first significant drop of new seasonal shirting has just arrived and there’s a little something for everyone in the mix. Join us as we take a guided tour through the new designs and give you some tips on how to wear and pair each one.
White & Navy Pinstripe Spread Collar Shirt
The jack-of-all-trades, the all-rounder, the Mr. Inbetween. This understated white-based pinstripe is a great substitute for a plain white or blue shirt, and will go under just about any suit or blazer you can throw at it (with the exception of more stripes of course). It works extremely well under checks too, and can even be worn casually with a blazer and jean, or under something more relaxed like one of our field jackets - the Sand Drill looks particularly good with it.
Dusty Blue Flannel Check Button-Down Shirt
This one’s dead easy. Perfect for casual wear, it goes great with dark or off-white denim, and looks very smart paired with earth tones. It also works remarkably well with tailoring for such a casual garment - the ideal shirt for a blazer-and-jeans combo.
Dark Indigo Denim Spread Collar Shirt
A denim shirt with some real heft behind it, we’ve finished this with mother-of-pearl buttons for a slightly more sartorial finish. The beautifully textured Brisbane denim, from prestigious cloth mill Thomas Mason, is loved the world over and is great with charcoal and olive, or as a tonal combination with navy. Also a total winner layered under a piece of knitwear as the textures play off of each other beautifully.
Brown, Black & Cream Madras Check Button-Down Shirt
We’ve been sneaking linen into every collection now, regardless of the season. Linen in the autumn? When it’s still in the mid-20s outside, it all starts to make sense. We’ve used a heavier weight than our summer linen, and we just couldn’t say no to this exploded madras check. Pair it with some off-white denim or smart chinos and our Navy Cotton Drill Utility Jacket.
Steel Blue Needle Cord Button-Down Shirt & Bordeaux Needle Cord Button-Down Shirt
Our needle cord shirts were sell-outs last year, so we’ve returned with two new colours, and in a button-down style this time, making them a touch more appropriate for putting with jeans. Both look great under shades of camel as well, making them a great choice to go under a tweed or glen plaid blazer. The steel blue pairs beautifully with most autumn shades and really shines next to cocoa brown and camel, as well as paired tonally with midnight navy.
For the bordeaux, navy again shines as do shades of grey, from a medium flannel grey to a snowy white. These shirts have so much texture that they can carry an outfit - don’t be afraid to pair them with finer suiting for a chic high-low combo.
Blue Patchwork Stripe Spread Collar Shirt and Navy Patchwork Stripe Spread Collar Shirt
Our new patchwork stripe shirts drive our machinists mad, but slip one on and they prove remarkably wearable - and a bit fun to boot. Great worn with tailored separates (strictly without a tie), they add a bit of interest and contemporary quirkiness to an outfit - in a strictly sotto voce way. The pale blue looks great with earth tones and white, whilst the navy really comes to life with shades of dark brown, charcoal and olive green.
Navy and Pink Pinstripe Spread Collar Shirt
Stripes often get conflated with the business world but really, that shouldn’t be the case. This dark navy ground shirt shines as an alternative to a plain dark navy shirt. Wear under dark charcoal or midnight navy tailoring for a great evening or cocktail look. Alternatively, contrast it under a light-coloured, like our Sand Cotton Drill Utility Jacket for a versatile casual combination.
Beige, Black & Cream Madras Check Button-Down
A large scale check with a soft touch, this casual shirt works great with dressed-down classics like our Field Jacket or Utility Jacket. A natural pairing with jeans or chinos, the cotton has been lightly brushed giving it a cosy feel in the hand, without the overbearing heat of flannel.
