Kate Sylvester
Kate Sylvester showed her latest collection at the new Auckland Art Gallery last night. This was the show that Fashion Week didn't have and if it had it would have been the stand out.
I always follow Kate’s collections with interest and this was one of her best yet, the return of the red coat reminding me of my all-time favourite Wolf collection.
The gimmick was turned right down and what I saw were some great tailored pieces “Le Smoking” style and beautiful maxi dresses.
Inspired by the French movie Belle de Jour, Karen Inderbitzens styling was bang on. Anyone who knows Karen will know that this would be a dream collection for her to work on and the subtle result was testament to her restraint and skill as a stylist.
Nice use of colour and Japanese bondage inspired finishing. The shoes and spectacles were also very slick and the use of the Hunters and Collectors track “The Slab” was a stroke of genius.
I know I will be advertising for a new secretary this week.
