Gurkha Trouser

The British Gurkha regiments in service to Britain were renowned as the bravest of the brave and won a remarkable 26 Victoria Crosses for courage under fire.

The Gurkha Trouser, worn by these fearsome Nepalese recruits, played a crucial role in their military attire. Its distinctive slim-fitting cummerbund waistband with buckles and adjustment straps served multiple purposes. Originally introduced as an economy measure, requiring fewer sizes, it also proved to be highly functional. The adjustable waistband allowed for a snug fit, even as troops lost weight during the demanding physical challenges of military life.

Beyond its military significance, the Gurkha Trouser, with its unique design and functionality has become a menswear staple loved by many including Ernest Hemingway, who preferred his as shorts. 

We love the provenance of this style and  have designed our version with a slight sartorial tweak and produced it for this season  in a lightweight Vitale Barberis Flannel as well as offering it in a variety of different cloths made to measure including Cordurory, Cavalry Twill and Garbardine.
