The Rolling Stones x Kirk Originals
by Ben St. George
Kirk Originals have collaborated with The Rolling Stones - RS No.9 Carnaby Brand to create two unique styles that encapsulate the spirit and aesthetic of the legendary band. We're excited to be exclusively stocking this collaboration in very limited numbers. Kirks Originals' philosophy for the project was to focus on delivering timeless silhouettes that would cater to bold and confident customers, heavily referencing the band's history and London rock'n'roll culture.
The Aftermath is a striking rectangular shape in deep piano black with sharp angled details through the browline and temple lugs. Next is the Black & Blue, a large oversized aviator inspired by extravagant style of the early 1970's. The Black & Blue features an infilled bridge and is constructed in a contrasting tortoiseshell that is glazes with yellow sun lenses. Both feature the iconic Rolling Stones "tongue" logo in silver at the ear tip along with custom silver pins at the front and temple.
"The Aftermath is the distillation of super-black frames worn by the band as they were gaining traction in the mid 1960’s and their bad boy attitude was enhanced through the wearing of frames that hid the eyes and the intent behind them," says Kirk Originals Creative Director Mark Brown.
"Black and Blue is an aviator representing the band in all of their 1970's glory. I wanted to capture the perfect aviator but give it something unusual, something truly eye catching and so the yellow lens came into play."
We have also have received a fresh stock in some of our most popular styles and three brand new models for Autumn - the crowd favourite James in Smoke Fade & Dark Green, the Hays in Bitter Tortoiseshell & Dark Green and finally the Anthony in Dark Havana & Charcoal.
