I think the marketing gurus at Twining’s have missed a trick.
They are currently promoting the great New Zealand taste off; you can read all about it here.
What is New Zealand's favourite blend?
Is it Green: 10 % of the population think so but some find it a bit hard to swallow?
Maybe an indigenous blend, a Maori Tea perhaps. Best served Black it can be a little difficult to stomach and is only 5% of the vote.
It appears most of us still prefer our tea reasonably insipid and White. We tend to prefer blends that celebrate our Pakeha heritage.
We reluctantly think it requires some form of sweetener and as we get older this is more likely to be artificial.
Most White tea tastes the same I find sweetened or not.
