Rain drops hitting road
Fox Umbrellas hold a special place in men’s wardrobes the world over. Not through visibility or fashion, but through quiet consistency - an object that has remained largely unchanged while everything around it has moved on.
Fox Umbrellas has been making umbrellas since 1868, and in many respects, still does so in the same way. Steel frames, hand-finished components, and a focus on balance and durability rather than convenience. It is a method that sits comfortably alongside traditional tailoring - considered, precise, and built to last.
Within our own collection, they serve a very clear purpose. In an Antipodean climate, an umbrella is not an occasional accessory; it is part of the daily uniform. Auckland weather in particular has a habit of shifting quickly, with wind often doing as much damage as the rain itself. Most umbrellas fail at that intersection. These do not.
The difference is structural. Weight where it is needed. Tension through the canopy. A frame that is designed to flex without collapsing. It is the same principle we apply across everything we offer - materials and construction first, aesthetics following naturally from that.
There is also an ease to how they sit within a wardrobe. Navy, black, dark green - colours that do not compete. Handles in whangee or malacca that develop character over time. Like a good pair of shoes or a well-worn coat, they improve with use rather than degrade.
What distinguishes a piece like this is not immediacy, but longevity. It removes the need to replace, to reconsider, to compromise. It becomes familiar, dependable—something you reach for without thinking.
That is ultimately why it belongs here. Not as a novelty, but as a constant.
