Christian Dimick: Myers Park Cottage

Tāmaki Makaurau-based artist Christian Dimick works between painting and drawing, often returning to the marks of his childhood as a starting point. His exhibition Myers Park Cottage, presented with Grace Aotearoa, continues this line of enquiry—using memory as material and the act of making as a way to reflect rather than resolve.
I recently discovered Christians work, they carry a deliberate looseness I like. Oil, pencil, collage and calico are layered in a way that feels both studied and instinctive. Less about perfection and more about persistence.
A graduate of Massey University (BFA Hons, 2022), Dimick has exhibited widely across Aotearoa and Australia, and is the inaugural artist peer at Grace. His forthcoming solo presentation at the Melbourne Art Fair 2026 marks an important step in an already cohesive and evolving practice.
