Profile

When did you start working for Crane Brothers?
- 1999, I have been here since the start.
We opened our High Street store on February 1st 2000. I remember being so nervous that no one would come in. I sold a shirt on the first day and that was it really. I have been here ever since.

What's your role within the company?
- Varied. We are still a small company, so like most business owners, a lot of the hard and boring stuff defaults to me. I spend a lot of my day in the office with my admin team and about 2% of my time designing. My priority remains the retail and I try to spend at least 20 hours a week in the store, including my favourite day in store Saturday, which I have always worked. I like seeing old clients and making new ones.

Describe what style means to you.
- Style is permanent. It defies time. It is something that can’t be taught or inherited. It’s intuitive and intangible.

What are your personal three wardrobe essentials and why?
- A white shirt, a navy suit and matching socks.

Favourite place to eat in your city?
- Home.

What was the last thing that you recall being inspired by?
- My recent visit to Florence was amazing but probably Tokyo. That is a truly inspiring city and the closest thing I will probably experience to visiting another planet.

You've recently started at Crane Brothers but have been working in menswear a long time. What have you done prior to this?
- I have always made an effort to dress well. I found the Italian sense of taste, style and craftsmanship suited me personally...which led me to Ermenegildo Zegna. I 'grew up' with my tenure at Zegna for over 20 years, elevating to become a market Made to Measure specialist. In addition for 17 years I operated in a management position.

What's your role within the company?
- Essentially Senior Sales advisor & Made to Measure specialist at Crane Brothers.
This new role will allow me to bring my passion, experience and commitment for Italian craftsmanship and combine this with the very exciting new venture that Crane Brothers is launching.....'Made in Italy'.

Describe what style means to you.
- To me style is expressing yourself to the world at large, completely & in a uniquely personal way, through how you interact and treat others...and how you treat and present yourself, through self care and dressing.

What are your personal three wardrobe essentials this season and why?
- A Navy Blazer. The go-to garment for business, travel, pleasure and more or less any occasion. We all NEED one.
- The perfect Blue shirt. It could be plain or even better subtly textured, but the collar is critical...with or without a tie. Like the Blazer it looks just as good with fine wool trousers as with jeans.
- Brown loafers. Whether a lighter Tan or burnished Brown, they set you apart from all the lace-ups in this city.

Favourite place to eat in your city?
- In the CBD it's still Depot, consistently great...
My local has to be Scarlett Slimms & Lucky. Good, honest food combined with creative cocktails.

What was the last thing that you recall being inspired by?
- The tenacity of my daughter, she never gives up...

When did you start working for Crane Brothers?

I began working for Crane Brothers in December 2016 and start in my official role at the beginning of January 2017.

What's your role within the company?
I am General Manager of Crane Brothers.

Describe what style means to you.

‘Style’ comes in many different guises, however to me, style equals a quiet confidence. The most ‘stylish’ people I’ve ever met are the ones who are most comfortable in their skin and hold themselves well, whether they’re in bare feet or Brogues.

What are your personal three wardrobe essentials and why?

A well-tailored navy blazer should be a staple in any man’s wardrobe. It can be worn in a myriad of different ways and is suitable for almost any occasion.
Good underwear, because you never know when you might get hit by a bus. I recommend the Bresciani Boxer Shorts at Crane Brothers, for comfort and breathability.
I’m a sucker for beautiful shoes. I’ve seen so many great outfits ruined by average footwear, that I’m always happy to invest in a decent pair of kicks.

Favourite place to eat in your city?

Ponsonby Road Bistro, hands down. Always an inspired menu, buzzing atmosphere and flawless service.

What was the last thing that you recall being inspired by?

The creativity and energy of my sons Luca and Heath, motivates and compels me in life.

What's your role within the company?
- Digital content manager and Sales assistant

Describe what style means to you.
- I like to summarise style with the term "understated elegance". I believe style is not limited by the clothes one wears, it is an extension of who they are in every aspect of their life.

- Amano

What are your personal three wardrobe essentials and why?
